Yes. What we discuss in sessions is confidential. We may take written notes in the session and keep records about the people we see. In line with national information legislation, these are kept secure and are only accessed by your therapist. Your therapist will discuss confidentiality at your first session and the legal limitations to confidentiality.
Sharing information with your referrer or G.P. has been proven to improve the quality of the care you receive. This is discussed with you at your first appointment.
Sometimes we will need to contact your GP or Psychiatrist, however, whenever possible we will discuss this with you first. In addition, sometimes insurance companies require a summary letter from us for your insurance to continue paying for treatment. We provide you with a copy of these letters for your own records.
